Vincent L. Kirk

1939 ~ 2021 (age 82)

Obituary

Vincent Leslie Kirk, 82, husband of Adrienne (Landes) Kirk of Kimberton, PA died Friday, October 29, 2021, peacefully at home.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the eldest son of the late Leslie Kirk and Ramona (Barnes) Kirk.

Vinnie, as everyone called him, grew up in Mount Carmel, Norristown, and Pottstown PA.  He graduated in 1957 from Bishop Kenrick High School where he excelled in academics, cross country, and baseball. He also enjoyed guitar, and was voted by his graduating class to “…always give a helping hand.”

Mr. Kirk studied advanced Mathematics and Physics at Villanova University, and he graduated in 1963 with his Master’s degree in Mathematics. He enjoyed cheering the ‘Nova Wildcats and supporting his alma mater for the purpose of its continued pursuit of ever greater knowledge to benefit mankind.  Notably, during his first educational career-related position as Communications Supervisor at Catalytic Corporation, Philadelphia, PA, he was an honored speaker in 1975 at Bowling Green University, Ohio. He presented his diligently codified, complex computer program which he adapted to Catalytic's distinctive specifications in order to utilize ISOPEP (which teaches a computer to draw).

Mr. Kirk’s special retreat was trout fishing upstate at Fishing Creek. While well-educated and product driven, at heart he was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and hiking. He also loved simply raking leaves for his three girls to jump into and play. Other hobbies included his being an avid reader, gardening, and DIY home improvement projects.

In 1964, Mr. Kirk married his sweetheart and surviving wife of 57 years, Adrienne Rose (Landes) Kirk, daughter of both the late Alvin S. & Marie Landes.  Mr. and Mrs. Kirk raised their three surviving daughters, Merrilee, Heather, and Adrienne, in East Pikeland Township. Mr. Kirk also has been blessed with five grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Kirk are lifetime members of St. Basil the Great Roman Catholic Church in Kimberton, PA, where their three daughters attended grammar school and Mrs. Kirk sang in the church choir.  Mr. Kirk’s devotion to Christianity, faithful Mass attendance, his both morning and evening Bible reading, and dedication to daily prayer generated encouragement and inspiration to everyone with whom he’d interacted over the years.
