George Thomas, III

January 31, 1934 — December 21, 2021

George W. Thomas, III, 87, husband of the late Helen J. (Wilburn) Thomas of Reading, formerly of Phoenixville, PA passed away at home on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 surrounded by loved ones.

Born on January 31, 1934 in Phoenixville, PA he was the son of the late George W. Thomas, Jr. and Edna (Hoch) Thomas.

George served in the PA National Guard for 12 years at Ft. Indiantown Gap.

He was a Mail Carrier at Phoenixville Post Office for 37 years retiring in 1992.

He coached at Phoenixville Babe Ruth league and volunteered at KYAL.  He played in various baseball leagues, enjoyed bowling and jigsaw puzzles.  He was a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan.

He is survived by 4 children:
Steve husband of Debbi Thomas;
Tammy wife of Scott Reed;
Lori Long;
Tim Thomas.

8 Grandchildren, Erica, Kelly, Brad, Ashley, Andrew, Ryan, Justine, and Quinn.

1 Great-grandson, Cameron.

He was preceded in death by his son, George W. Thomas, IV and his first wife Mary Ann (Mohn) Thomas.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service in Devlin Rosmos Kepp and Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Monday, December 27, 2021 6:30 pm.

A visitation will be Monday in the funeral home from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Masks are required in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Promedica Heartland Hospice, 460 Norristown Rd # 101, Blue Bell, PA 19422.
