Dorothy V. (Essick) Cooke, 93, wife of the late Ernest R. Cooke, Jr. of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Manatawny Manor.

She was born on April 24, 1927, in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Oliver and Elma (Buzzard) Essick.

She is survived by 5 children:

Ernest R. Cooke, III (Doreen);

Gail Cooke Stagner (Eugene);

David W. Cooke;

Brenda Kehler (Gary);

Dottie Powell (Craig).

5 Grandchildren, Kelly Cook, Justin Cook, Rachel Powell, Courtney Powell, and Meredith Powell.

4 Great-grandchildren, Konnor, Justice, Gavin, and Abigail.

Dorothy was a loyal wife, devoted mother, loving grandmother, and esteemed nurse. She graduated from the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing and served as a Registered Nurse at Phoenixville Hospital for 36 years. After retirement, she was a member of and volunteered at the Phoenixville Senior Center. She enjoyed sewing/crocheting, reading, playing bingo, arts and crafts, cheering for Philadelphia sports teams, and spending quality time with her loved ones. She was a woman of faith who was involved in her local church and bible studies. She made friends wherever she went. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A viewing will be in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp and Gatcha Funeral Home 517 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA  on Monday, May 3, 2021 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in Morris Cemetery, 428 Nutt Road, Phoenixville, PA at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Manatawny Manor Benevolent Fund: 30 Old Schuylkill Road Pottstown, PA 19465.
