Obituary

Ann (Hughes) Wolff, 93, of The Meadows in Mont Clare, PA went to her Lord peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at home.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on September 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Edwin J. and Marion (O’Sullivan) Hughes of Larchmont, NY. A graduate of Mamaroneck High School, Ann also attended The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, NY and Marywood College in Scranton, PA.

Ann is survived by six children: George Butler Jr. (Suzanne) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Susan Stone (David) of Ipswich, MA; Kathleen Stackhouse (Glenn) of St. Davids, PA; Nancy Barile (Matthew) of New York, NY; William Butler (Donna) of Lake George, NY; and Jeanne Garrity (Robert) of Wallingford, PA. Thirteen grandchildren: Lorraine Neal, George Butler, Jonathan Stone, Amy Stone, Samuel Stone, Andrew Stackhouse, John Stackhouse, Juliana Barile, Taylor Butler, Patrick Butler, Lauren Butler, Kris Garrity, and Peter Garrity. Seven great-grandchildren: Leela, Logan, Connor, Rowan, Summer, Devon, and Harun. Two siblings: Hope Forsman and Kathleen Hughes. She was preceded in death by two children, Robert John Butler and Mary Teresa Butler; one grandchild, Alexander Barile; her spouse, Larry Wolff; three siblings, Mary Lou Conor, Martha Adelman, and Eddie Hughes; and her former spouse, George Butler.

Ann enjoyed cruises, winters in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, board games with her grandchildren, gardening, and arts & crafts of many kinds: counted cross stitch, ceramics, quilting, beading, painting, and sewing including smocking — a little bit of everything, all done beautifully. From an early age, she enjoyed summers at Coxton Lake in Thompson, PA with many family members and friends. She also enjoyed spending time on the lake rowing; catching catfish for her father, as well as perch and bull frogs; and picking pails of blueberries with her father and making pies and jam with her mother.
