Thomas A. Herrick, Sr.

Thomas Allen Herrick, age 69, passed peacefully on April 5, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Tom was born in Centralia but lived in Phoenixville most of his life. He graduated from Phoenixville High School then proudly served 6 years in the U.S. Navy on the USS Semmes. Trained as an electronics technician, Tom held multiple jobs in manufacturing repairing equipment that made everything from microchips for Commodore Computers to folding cartons at Graphics Packaging. From fixing Video and pinball games for Players Choice to his retirement from the credit card manufacturer Idemia.

He enjoyed playing youth and adult football, softball, and hockey for many years. He was a passionate Philly sports fan, with a huge collection of sports memorabilia that he continuously expanded, searching yard sales and flea markets for that special item. He was an Eagles season ticket holder for 15 years and followed the Flyers and Phillies religiously.

Tom was always the quiet guy who teased and amused everyone with his unique sense of humor. He loved his family and was friends with everyone he met. He had the softest heart for animals, who he spoiled rotten whenever he had the chance.

Tom was predeceased by his parents Ruth ( Shaffer) and Mike Herrick, his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Herrick (Faddis), and his in-laws Art and Lucy Biehl.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dawn (Simmonds), and his son Tom, his brother, Mike, and his nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Howard Halberstein), Stephanie Herrick, Jennifer Roney, Keith McCullough (Jacqueline), and Bob Price. Great nieces Miiya (Zach Kaczor) & Tess Maiden and great nephew Joshua Halberstein. Also, his in-laws, who always considered Tom as their brother, Donna Madden (Simmonds), Kathy Simmonds, Bob Simmonds and Soni Biehl.

We ask that friends and family wear their favorite sports attire to the viewing Wednesday, April 10th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Devlin - Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 Main Street, Phoenixville to honor his love of sports.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to All 4 Paws, in honor of Tom’s love of animals.
