Shawn Paul Shevitz, 37, husband of Thuy Phan of Phoenixville, PA died on Thursday, August 11, 2016.


Born on February 2, 1979 in New Castle, PA he is the son of Frank Joseph and Kathryn Carol (Kelso) Shevitz of Beverly Hills, FL.


Shawn graduated from New Castle High School and then received a Bachelor's Degree from Valley Forge Christian College (presently known as the University of Valley Forge).


He worked in the information technology field at Double Star Inc in West Chester, PA.


Shawn was known as "Shevdog" to his close family and friends, and many of his blogs and web pages went by that name.


He was musically inclined, playing the trumpet in his high school marching band. Shawn also played guitar on the worship team at his church. Shawn was known for his eclectic taste in music. In college he lead the ministry at the local mall. Shawn was an extremely active and driven person. He earned the gold medal of achievement in the Royal Rangers program, and volunteered working with boys in the program for years afterward. He completed eight Ironman Triathlons, an Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, three Pittsburgh Marathons, a Philadelphia Marathon and a Piranha Sports Diamondman Challenge. He enjoyed bike riding, hiking, camping and excelled in outdoor survival skills. Shawn loved Pittsburgh, and was a die hard Steelers and Penguins fan. Shawn will be greatly missed by his family and friends.


In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by:


sister, Rebecca Lynn Baird, her spouse, Micah William Baird and their daughter, Kelly Rhiannon Baird of Akron, OH;


brother, William Andrew Shevitz of Beverly Hills, FL;


sister, Kelly Irene Shevitz Zimbro, her spouse, Christopher Lee Zimbro and their sons, Ronald Liam Zimbro, Brady Andrew Zimbro and Hayden Kelso Zimbro of Moyock, NC;


and grandfather, William Kelso of Hernando, FL.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation at the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.


The Memorial Service is open to the public and will be held directly following visitation hours.
