Samuel L. Ash, Jr., 51, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
Born on October 12, 1973, in Phoenixville, he was the beloved son of Samuel L. Ash, Sr. (husband of Kathleen) of Phoenixville, PA and the late Cecilia (Hiltebeitel) Ireland (wife of Jim), Kamas, UT.
Sam was a graduate of WTTI Welding School and took great pride in his trade and strong work ethic.
Sam worked for Malvern Glass Company for 25 years and also tended bar at the Slovak Club for over 20 years. He was a proud member of both Friendship Fire Company and West End Fire Company.
Sam was the true definition of a “social butterfly.” He loved being around people. Like his Uncle Tom, he always had a story to tell or a joke to share.
He was an avid Flyers fan, a diehard Auburn University supporter, and enjoyed shooting pool. Sam also had a deep love for the beach, boating, and life on the water—whether soaking in the sun or just being near the ocean, it brought him peace and joy. When he wasn’t enjoying the water or spending time with his children, he could often be found cruising the back roads of Chester County in his beloved 2012 Mustang GT.
Above all else, Sam’s greatest joy in life was being a father.
He is survived by his four children, who were the light of his life:
He is also survived by his sister, Melissa (Brian) Troup of Newark, DE, and extended family: Lorraine Laird of Phoenixville, PA; Robert (Linda) Ash of Metairie, Louisiana; Debbie (Bob) Foxx of Lewes, Delaware; Pam (Ronald) Hopkins of Lewes, Delaware; Bob Hiltebeitel of Rehoboth, Delaware; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his favorite uncle Tom (“UT”) Ash; aunts Kym Howie and Lyda Kline; paternal grandparents Samuel E. and Mildred D. Ash; and maternal grandparents Susan and Robert Hiltebeitel.
Sam will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The world will be a different place without his smile, laughter, and spirit. When you look up tonight and see that shining star, know that it's Sam shining down.
We love and miss you, Sam.
