Rudolf Ernest Penczer

Rudolf Ernest Penczer, 86, husband of Doreen Doris (Day) Penczer passed away peacefully on the evening of July 11, 2026, at Paoli Hospital.

Born on August 24, 1939, in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Rudolf Austin and Mildred (Chaffee) Penczer.

A distinguished graduate of West Point Military Academy, Rudy earned academic awards in several areas of math and science. As an officer in the Air Force, he went on to complete his master’s degree in Physics from UC Berkeley. After completing his military service, he enjoyed a very successful career in the tech industry.

Rudy was an avid hiker and traveler. An active member of Chester Valley Hiking Club, he also hiked all over the world. He completed substantialhikes in England, the Alps, Nepal, Patagonia and all over the US. One of his favorites was a family hike along the St. Cuthbert’s Way in Scotland.

He truly loved spending time with his grandchildren when ever he could, and proudly embraced the title of PaPa (Pop Pop to the west coastgrandkids and Most Honorable Grandfather in formal occasions that required a dose of silly pomp). Sharing meals and adventures with his family became his primary occupation and greatest joy.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife Doreen, daughter Caryn Penczer, son Rudy Penczer, and grandchildren Austin Walsh, EvaRogue, MaKenna Walsh, and Rebecca Penczer. He is also survived by his brother, Pete Penczer, and sister, Ellen Strother.

A Memorial Service will be held at New Story Church, 110 Valley Park Road, Phoenixville, PA, at 11:00 am on Friday, July 17, 2026. Join the familyfor lunch immediately following the service.
