Rose Marie (Shire) Miller passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026 at Abington Jefferson Hospital. She was 93 years old.

She was born in Pottsville, PA to Joseph and Julia (Sippel) Shire on November 20, 1932.

After her father passed away when she was a young girl, her mother needed her help to support the family. After she completed only a year of high school at Pottsville Catholic, she worked alongside her mother in a clothing factory in their back yard. Later, she continued working as a Trimmer at the Colonial Blouse Factory.

In 1951, she met the love of her life, Anton “Tony” C. Miller while she was driving in one of her best friends, Jane Yeager’s car. Jane and Rose would drive together to St. Clair to meet up with Jane’s crush, Frank. He and Tony were good friends and eventually all four would go on double dates. Tony was serving in the US Coastguard. After he was discharged, they married on August 8, 1959 at St. John the Baptist Church in Pottsville. Shortly after, they had their only child together, a daughter, Shirley Ann Miller, and moved to Mont Clare, PA where they then fostered many children.

It was in Mont Clare, Rose shared many decades of love, laughter and the best of times. She continued factory work making airbag explosives while employed with ICI until her retirement in 1994. After her retirement, she kept busy by sewing together the stars and stripes of giant sized American Flags. She was a former member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church where she was President of the Ladies Auxiliary and made a lot of very close friends who were near and dear to her for decades to come. Rose was an active member participating in many church related events and fundraisers. Later, she became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Spring City.

Rose and Tony enjoyed traveling after retirement and often traveled to the mountains in Massanutten, VA and also enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC and Orange Lake, FL. She also enjoyed road trips to Lancaster and really to nowhere in particular, even if it was something as simple as going to look for deer. She had a passion for bingo, seek and find word searches, table puzzles and will be remembered by her grandchildren for teaching them to play various card games and board games. We loved her home cooked meals, pretzel Jello and tapioca pudding. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Her pride and joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her four grandchildren, Angela Brenner of Cheltenham, PA, Jaclyn Brenner of Perkasie, PA, Brittany Robinson of Suwanee, GA and Kali Charriez of Orlando, FL and son in law, Gary Heimbach of Perkasie, PA.

She is also survived by her 11 great grandchildren Olivia, Jaydyn, Nathan, Hanna, Ethan, Henry, Charlie, Will, Ava, Zoe, Lea and 1 great great grandchild, Lila.

She is also survived by her best friends, Cass and Betty.

She is predeceased by her husband, Tony and daughter, Shirley, brother, Joseph Shire and sister, Louise Harvilicz.

She will fondly be remembered for her soft and caring nature, warm smile and selfless personality.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3640 Schuylkill Road, Spring City, PA 19475 on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 11:00
