Robert M. Sindaco

Robert M. Sindaco, 91, beloved husband of Linda (Biever) Sindaco of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Jefferson Hospital of Neuroscience while surrounded by his family.

Born on April 7, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late James F. and Margaret (Holland) Sindaco.  While growing up, “Bobby” and his neighborhood friends spent time carrying on and playing half ball in the back alleys between their row homes. With a sweet swing he would continue playing baseball through high school, graduating from Overbrook in 1950.  Bob went on to enlist in United States Coast Guard in 1951 and served six years of active duty.

The first of the Sindaco family to go to college, he earned his undergraduate degree from West Chester Teachers College and a Masters in Education from Villanova University.

He met the love of his life, Linda, while on the dance floor in Somers Point, NJ. Apparently crazy legs Bob made quite the impression. Married in January of 1967, Bob and Linda purchased a stone carriage house just outside of Phoenixville, where they started a loving family and raised their three children.

Bob spent his professional career as a middle school history teacher in the Upper Merion Area School District. With a welcoming demeanor, he pioneered the use of cooperative learning in his classroom. Students and teachers alike remember the days when he would collaborate with the home economics department and make the Sindaco family recipe of homemade spaghetti and gravy for all to enjoy. Bob retired from teaching in 1994 with 36 years of service.

He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, especially to Italy, where he visited Atessa, the town where the (Del)Sindaco’s have their roots and some still reside. He looked forward to a weekly round of golf with his retired teaching buddies, playing once a week into into his late 80’s. He always rooted for the Eagles and Phillies.

While he loved sports, traveling, and teaching, one of his favorite roles in life was that as a grandparent. Pop Pop was a funny, kind and calming soul to all eight of his grandchildren. A good sport at heart, he always rose to the occasion for a family Christmas show orchestrated by Nana, portraying the roles of Santa Claus, Geppetto, Jacob Marley, and Dumbledore just to name a few.

Loving husband, father, grandfather, teacher and friend to all, Bob will be missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.

In addition to his wife of 56 years he is survived by 3 children:

Katie Sindaco;

Chad husband of Amy Sindaco;

Hannah wife of Terry Bright.

8 Grandchildren, Kathryn, Bella, Grace, Chloe, Ava, Carter, Sydney, and Jameson.

His beloved dog, Stella.

He was preceded by his brother, James Sindaco.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
