Robert Jacob Kunsch, Sr., 95, beloved husband of the late Marian Elizabeth (Doebling) Kunsch, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on December 27, 2025.
Born on April 2, 1930, in Phoenixville, PA, he was the cherished son of the late Jacob and Helen (Katona) Kunsch. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, displaying a commitment to service that defined much of his life.
Professionally, Robert excelled as a tool and die maker before moving into management at the West Company in Phoenixville. His dedication and work ethic were evident in all his endeavors.
A committed member of the community, Robert actively participated in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Phoenixville, where he sang in the choir, and he was previously a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Spring City. He loved serving the Lord as church council member, participated in various committees and he taught Sunday School. His passions extended beyond his faith; he loved traveling, camping and often spent winters in Florida. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed playing basketball and golf, as well as hunting, fishing, clamming and shooting sporting clays. He also helped with Boy Scouts and PMYC football. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Robert is survived by three children: Jeffrey Kunsch, Sandra wife of William Matthews, and Thomas husband of Cynthia Kunsch, as well as 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert J. Kunsch, Jr. husband of Ann Kunsch and his brothers, William Kunsch husband of Kay Kunsch and David Kunsch husband of Geri Kunsch.
Robert’s life was marked by love, service, and a deep commitment to family and community. He will be missed dearly, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in St. John's Lutheran Church, 355 St. John's Circle, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Spring City.
A visitation will be held in the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 355 St. John's Circle, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
