Rita C. (McManus) O'Neill, 97, wife of the late John F. "Slick" O'Neill of Royersford, formerly of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Born on March 29, 1928, Rita was the daughter of the late James J. McManus, Sr. and Catherine (Kirk) McManus. A graduate of Collegeville-Trappe High School, she dedicated many years of her life to working at Wyeth Laboratories before enjoying a fulfilling retirement.
A devout Catholic, Rita was a lifetime member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Following her retirement, she became actively involved in various community services, including the Ladies Auxiliary of the AOH (Ancient Order of Hibernians), the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Mary's Church, serving as a driver for Project HOPE, and volunteering at the former Johnson Home (Parkhouse).
Rita had a deep appreciation for her Irish heritage and loved all things Irish, she enjoyed Irish weekends in Wildwood and St Patty’s Day celebrations. She enjoyed traveling, playing Bingo, and visiting casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. An avid sports fan, Rita had a passion for discussing her favorite teams and was always available to welcome visitors with open arms. Her role as a loving Mom-Mom and GiGi was especially close to her heart, and she proudly attended many events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her 5 children:
Deborah wife of Thomas Wick;
Maureen wife of Joseph Wall;
Susan wife of John Yeager;
Jackie wife of the late Jay Yenchick;
John O'Neill.
7 Grandchildren:
John (Kelli) Yeager;
Joe (Grace) Yeager;
Jeff Yeager;
Lauren (Keith) Roberts;
Kevin Wick and Jess Minot;
Ryan (Tracy) Wall;
Corey Wall.
13 Great-grandchildren.
Numerous nieces and nephews.
Siblings, Anne Dykie, Robert (Marge) McManus, Richard McManus, and sister-in-law, Wilma Jean O'Neill.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, James McManus, John McManus, Francis McManus, Mary Jacobson. Also, in-laws, Rose, Walt, Bill (Oakie), Marion, Lida, Jim, Ruth, and Bill.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 212 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:30 am.
A viewing will be held in church on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:15 am.
Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 212 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 or St. Mary's Franciscan Shelter, 209 Emmett Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
