CHESTER SPRINGS, PA - Ralph Millard Herzig, 91, of 1156 St. Matthew's Road, Chester Springs, PA, formerly of Lenox and Pittsfield MA, died Tuesday, April 5th, at Tel Hai Nursing Care, in Honey Brook, PA. Born in Pittsfield on October 29,1924, the son of Edward and Grace Herzig, he was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1986. From 2004 to the time of his death, he was the Executive Trustee of the Laymen's Home Missionary Movement in Chester Springs and the editor of its monthly magazine - The Bible Standard. He enjoyed leading Bible classes and lecturing on Biblical topics. He retired from McCann Vocational Technical High school in 1993, where he taught mathematics and in the plant maintenance shop. Prior to that, he worked as a carpenter for various builders including David Tierney and Sons. He served in the Army Medical Corp of the 378th regiment of the 95th Infantry Division during World War II and was a conscientious objector. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal on October 16,1944. He was an avid Syracuse University sports fan and spent his spare time gardening and working on home projects. His wife, the former Norma Carolyn Bruhjell, died October 22, 2004. They were married July 18,1953 in Minneapolis, MN and the couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in 2004. He was predeceased by three brothers-Gerald Herzig, Elmer Herzig and Lester Herzig. He leaves two daughters, Joy Mullen and her husband Roger of Pittsfield, and Andrea , Jacob Mullen, Joseph Pyrzanowski and Peter Pyrzanowski; one brother, Robert Herzig of Keystone Heights, Florida. Funeral Notice Services for Ralph M. Herzig of Chester Springs, PA, who died on April 5, will be Monday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m., at the Chapel of Bible Standard Ministries, 1156 St. Matthew's Road, Chester Springs, PA. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Chester Springs.
