Mary F. Mullen

Mary Francis Mullen, age 70, of Collegeville, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Paoli Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the devoted wife of the late William P. Mullen.

Born on December 27, 1954, in Philadelphia, PA, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Francis C. and Annette M. (Forbes) Marlin.

Mary graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School and later earned a certification in phlebotomy from Montgomery County Community College. She went on to work as a dedicated phlebotomist and home health care aide, known for her gentle touch, compassionate heart, and steadfast commitment to those in her care.

In her free time, Mary pursued her passion for interior decorating, a creative outlet she truly loved. She had a natural eye for design and often made custom pieces for her home, adding her personal touch to every corner.

Mary’s greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother. Affectionately known as “Belop,” she embraced retirement with open arms to care for her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She never missed a birthday, concert, or school event. Her love and support were constants in their lives.

Mary cherished every moment spent with her family, especially sunny summer days at the pool or beach, and backyard cookouts filled with laughter and love. She had a special affection for the holiday season, often beginning her Christmas planning and shopping as early as July. Creating magical memories for her loved ones brought her true joy, and her thoughtful spirit made every celebration feel extra special.

She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Trish Rittenbaugh (Tom Jarrett) and Katie Appenzeller; and her cherished grandchildren: Haley, Maya, Alyssa, and Jacob. She was also lovingly known as “MayMay” to her niece and nephews: Brian, Meghan, and Matthew Kane.

Mary is also survived by her siblings: Nancy Marlin, Peg Della Franco Garner (Bill), Michael Della Franco, Patty McCauley and Jim McCauley Jr. She was preceded in death by her sister, Teri Della Franco and brother David McCauley.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Devlin-Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the funeral home prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center, Office of Institutional Advancement, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111, or online at foxchase.org.

Mary will be remembered for her boundless love, generous heart, and the lasting joy she brought to everyone lucky enough to know her. Her spirit lives on in the memories she created, the family she cherished, and the love she so freely gave.
