Mary Ann Bowes

Mary Ann (Kelemen) Bowes, 85, wife of James J. Bowes of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Born on January 5, 1938 in Phoenixville, PA Mary Ann was the daughter of the late James J. and Mary (Condrath) Kelemen.  She grew up on South Street on the Northside of Phoenixville and went to St. Mary School.  Mary Ann graduated from Phoenixville High School, class of 1955.  After graduation she worked as a drive-thru teller at Phoenixville Trust Company where she met her husband, James.  They married on October 29, 1960 and shared more than 62 years of marriage.  After raising her three children, Mary Ann went back to work part-time as a teller at Phoenixville Federal Bank.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.  While her children attended St. Ann’s school, she was a volunteer art teacher and active in the Women's Guild.

Mary Ann lovingly crocheted, cross stitched and knitted beautiful sweaters, blankets, pillows and pictures which she shared with family and friends. She loved vacations at the beach with her grandchildren.  Mary Ann also enjoyed cooking and baking for many holiday celebrations with family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 3 children: James J. Bowes IV husband of Tracy (Ray) Bowes, David M. Bowes and Colleen M. McAvoy; 3 Grandchildren: James J. Bowes V, Patrick A. Bowes, and MacKenzie S. Bowes, and two sisters: Elaine Bishop (wife of the late Carl Bishop) and Patricia Kelemen. She was preceded in death by her sister, Peg (Margaret) Kelemen.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass in St. Ann Chapel, 604 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.

A visitation will be held in the Chapel on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 am.
