MARGARET BEEGHLY CONNER
October 27, 1938 – October 5, 2026
Margaret Beeghly Conner, 87, of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, entered into glory on Monday, October 5, 2026.
She was born October 27, 1938, in Tacoma, Washington, to Mahlon and Jessie (Craven) Beeghly. She was one of four children and as a child survived polio. She graduated with a degree in home economics and taught public school.
In 1962 she married Eben “Monte” Conner, Jr. They made their home in Yakima where they began to raise three children, Eben, Lin and Mike. In 1970 they moved to Wheaton, Maryland. There, Monte and Margaret sponsored Vietnamese refugees, including Thom and Truong, and went on to help many more; Margaret taught English and assisted assimilating in the USA.
In 1972 she committed her life to the Lord while participating in Bible Study Fellowship. The couple moved to Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, in 1983. They opened their home to help high school students from Korea, and other countries. After Monte passed in 2016, her son Mike cared for her through 2023 when she moved to Greencastle to be cared for by her granddaughter, Deborah Cline.
Margaret loved crafts of many kinds and was a voracious reader. She prayed for missionaries, supported their work, and found deep joy in studying the Bible. Her life was marked by hospitality, quiet service, and a steady faith.
She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Beeghly, and her husband, Monte Conner. She is survived by her sister Jean Weed; her bother Paul Beeghly; son Eben III and his wife, Sue; her daughter Linden Dotson and her husband, John; and her son Michael and his wife, Melissa; along with 14 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life for Margaret will be on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Broadfording Church, 13523 Broadfording Church Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broadfording Church in memory of Margaret Conner for the missionary fund at roadfording.church/give to support the spread of The Gospel and the joy of salvation.
