Kenneth L. Bevan

Ken Bevan, of Kimberton, PA passed away peacefully at home on his 92nd birthday, May 29, 2025. Kenneth Lee Bevan was born on May 29, 1933, in Phoenixville, PA, to Allen & Lillian (Loughin) Bevan.

Ken married Gloria (Roberts) Bevan on August 6, 1955. They shared 70 loving years of marriage together and raised three children: Kenneth Bevan Jr (Betsy) of Spring City, PA; Keith Bevan (Debra) of Concord, CA; and Jeffrey Bevan (Kim) of Kimberton, PA.

He was a very loving and devoted “Big Bev” to Kelly Bevan, Anna Bevan (Taylor Friehl), Krystal Bevan, Elizabeth Bevan Carr (James), Jeffrey Bevan, Sean Bevan (Emily) and Amy Bevan (Ben Maselli). He was also a proud great granddad to Zoey, Henry, and Molly Carr.

In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by his sister Connie Weiland (Doug) of Somers Point, NJ and was predeceased by his brother Allen Bevan Jr (Betty) and many beloved relatives and dear friends. He was also “Big Bev” and a second dad to many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ken was a graduate of Penn State University and his life was dedicated to his family, friends and community. He worked in the family construction business building “Bevan’s Orchard” homes outside of Phoenixville and many other homes in the area before owning/operating Bevan Lumber Company for several decades. His later working life was for Wooldridge construction in the development of Hershey’s Mill community near West Chester PA and other Wooldridge developments in California.

Ken was generous with his time to help family & friends combined with many years of service to the Kimberton Fire company and Little League -- announcing at the annual fair and donating his skills significantly to the development of the Kimberton Youth Athletic League (KYAL).

He found contentment in fishing and hunting with the boys (and larger family and friends) around his home, the Kettle Creek hunting camp in Eagles Mere, PA and at his vacation home in Ontario, Canada. He greatly enjoyed morning breakfasts with his college roommate and lifelong friend Jim Martin as well as afternoon “tea” at the Ontario cottage with Jim and his “Canadian brother”, Garfield Ball.

Ken was a model older person, never complaining, always upbeat, got around fairly well to the very end & when asked how he was, the answer was always “fantastic”. Now today …on his 92nd birthday …we believe he truly is. He often said, “you never know when your time here is done until the man upstairs rings the bell”. It rang this morning while sleeping peacefully…and now he’s free at last.

The family will be holding a private celebration of Ken’s life for immediate family in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: “KYAL” and mailed to: KYAL, PO Box 6, Kimberton, PA 19442. Thank you!
