Kathleen Parnell Sherwood passed away on February 22, 2026 at Providence Place Assisted Living, Collegeville PA. She was the widow of Robert D. Sherwood, who passed away on August 15, 2004. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on December 28, 2003.

Kathleen was born in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Ida and Willis Parnell. She was a graduate of Saint Jerome’s High School in Tamaqua and Penn State University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.

Following marriage, Kathleen resided in Greenville, PA and was employed at Greenville Hospital as a dietitian until the birth of her first son.

After moving back to eastern PA, Kathleen worked at Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton, before being hired as a Food Service Director for the Tamaqua Area School District.

Kathleen and Robert relocated to Thorndale PA in 1983 after Robert accepted a position of Personnel Manager at Brandywine Hospital nearby.

Upon moving to Thorndale, she was employed by the Chester County Intermediate Unit as Food Service Director, retiring in 1996.

Kathleen was a member of Saint Joseph Church in Downingtown. She was a greeter and member of Hope Organization, a volunteer of Saint Martha Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare, a member and treasurer of Caln Privileged Citizens, and a member of Life Long Learning Institute held at Immaculata University.

Kathleen is survived by sons Robert and wife Dr. Cindy Sherwood of Crozet, VA; Thomas of Eagleville, PA and Paul and wife Jeanne of Phoenixville, PA. Also, grandchildren Giles Sherwood and his partner Lindsey Timko of New York City, and Dr. Aaron Sherwood and his fiancé Sandy Liu, Pharm.D. of Charlotte, NC and several nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Jean Rimbach and Elinor Burns of State College, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation in the Devlin-Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Thursday April 16th from 9 to 11 am. Memorial service to begin at 11.

A private family interment will be held at Saint Jerome’s Cemetery in Tamaqua, PA.
