Joseph Sparano

Joseph Anthony Sparano, 91, husband of the late Mary Ann (King) Sparano of Phoenixville, PA, died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Manor Care in King of Prussia, PA.

Born on January 31, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Angelo and Mary (Natale) Sparano.

He attended St. Mary's Elementary School and was a graduate of Phoenixville High School.

He enlisted in the United States Navy Armed Guard and was recipient of the American Theatre Ribbon, Bronze Star, Victory Medal and the Russian Murmansk Medal.

He was a manager of the former Acker and Fry Hardware store in Phoenixville and retired from the former B.F. Goodrich Tire Company.

He built model ships, was a stone mason, and enjoyed playing the violin and saxophone.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Phoenixville.

daughter, Mary Jo Gontkof of Phoenixville

son, William husband of Rose Sparano of Pottstown

daughter, Ruth Weeks wife of Jay Weeks of Phoenixville

4 Grandchildren;

Jill Petrikis (Stan)

Laurie Conbeer (Seth)

4 Great Grandchildren;

Colin and Julia Petrikis

Noah and Olivia Conbeer.

Brother of Thomas Sparano

and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Anna (Sparano) Falco as well as his brother, Patrick Sparano.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Ann Chapel, 604 South Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in St Ann Cemetery, Phoenixville.

A viewing will be held in the Chapel onThursday morning from 9:45am to 10:45am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Ann Church 502 South Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
