Joseph P. Bogus, 69, husband of Karen M. (Vaile) Bogus of Phoenixville, PA died suddenly Tuesday, May 26, 2020 in Paoli Hospital. Born on July 24, 1950 in Phoenixville, PA he was the son of the late Joseph P. Bogus, Sr. and Rita C. (Kennedy) Bogus. He graduated from Phoenixville Area High School, in 1968, Kutztown University, in 1972 and then went on to receive his Master's from Villanova University in Counseling. He had a 30 year career at Phoenixville Area High School as a Social Studies teacher and guidance counselor before retiring in 2007.
Joseph was a dedicated and passionate coach, spending more than 50 years coaching various local sports teams including basketball at Phoenixville Junior High School, football at Phoenixville Area High School, Great Valley High School, and Conestoga High School; softball at Phoenixville Area High School and Perkiomen Valley High School; and baseball at Phoenixville Area High School and the Babe Ruth League. In addition to coaching he was an avid sports fan and a longtime season ticket holder for the Phildadelphia Eagles and Villanova Wildcats.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the Polish American Citizens Club.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 children:
Son, Matthew J. husband of Jennifer Bogus;
Daughter, Stacey A. Bogus.
2 Grandchildren, Jackson and Quinn Bogus.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Jansen.
A viewing will be held at Devlin Rosmos Kepp and Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 8:00 am to 10:45 am. A limited number of guests will be permitted in at a time. Those waiting outside the building are asked to please follow the social distancing guidelines.
A Private Family Service will follow and burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery.
