James Reed

January 19, 1948 — January 24, 2021

James E. Reed, 73, husband of 27 years to Robin D. Bearden-Reed of Pottstown, PA passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

Born on January 19, 1948 in Farmville, VA he was the son of the late Francell Brown and the late Lillian Reed.

He served in the US Army in Korea during the Vietnam War.  While in the service he was a boxer.

He worked at Penco Steel Company for 30 years, Josey Janitorial, and also St. Gabriel's Hall.

He was a very active member of Grimes AME Church in Phoenixville where he was in the Van Ministry, President of the ushers, was a Trustee, sang in the choir, kitchen committee, and was a driver and cook in the after school program.

He loved boxing, was a  Dallas Cowboys fan, and an excellent cook.

He had a beautiful smile and loving heart.  He was a father figure for his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by daughter, Denise Duke and husband Charles Duke, III.

3 grandchildren, Charles Duke, IV, Amor Duke, and Jaylian Duke.

Sister, Shirley Reed, Farmville, VA.

Host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded by brother, Alphonsa Reed and sister, Sheila Reed.

Family and friends may call at the Devlin Rosmos Kepp and Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

Funeral Service and burial will be private.
