Helen Derkas, 92, beloved wife of 74 years to Ernest T. Derkas, of Pottstown passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.
Born October 28, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Bela & Erna (Timmerman) Wolf.
Helen married the love of her life when she was 17 years old. She led a very active life and had many interests.
When she was a young woman, and with her husband, enjoyed being a member of a Russian Balalaika Orchestra. She loved dancing. She enjoyed traveling many places throughout the world including visiting family in Germany.
She was active as a volunteer at The Clinic in Phoenixville and was a member of the Roamer's hiking group making life-long friends. She was an avid gardener and had a soft spot in her heart for the birds, keeping them well fed.
Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her husband Ernest, she is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Karen & Ted Rainsford, Kathy Gwillim, Lynn & Mitch Mitchell; her Grandchildren, Ian & Morgan Gwillim, Danielle & Emily Rainsford, Melissa, Jeffrey & Ashlee Mitchell and her Great Grandchildren, Jeffrey Wagner III & Mateo Valladares.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Wolf.
Relatives and friends will be invited to a celebration of Helen's life to be held at a later date.
