Glen Michael Greenawald, 75, of Macungie, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on December 21, 2025, following complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on November 3, 1950, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Glen was the son of the late Margaret Marie (Christ) Greenawald and Glen W. Greenawald. He was raised in Schuylkill Haven, PA, where he graduated from Schuylkill Haven High School in 1968. Glen went on to attend The Pennsylvania State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. He later earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Temple University, laying the foundation for a distinguished career in information technology.
In May of 1974, Glen married his college sweetheart and best friend, Rosemary Kalyan Greenawald. Their loving marriage of more than 50 years was a cornerstone of his life. Together, they made their home in Macungie, Pennsylvania, where they shared a life filled with travel, family, and their pet cats.
Glen spent most of his professional career at Miller, Anderson & Sherrerd LLP and later at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where he served as Vice President of Information Technology. He specialized in technology architecture, networking, and cybersecurity. He retired in 2006, after which he and Rosemary traveled extensively and moved to their dream home.
During his high school and college years, he was a member of the Belvedere Drum and Bugle Corps, where he played the snare drum. Following retirement, he continued performing with the Belvedere Alumni at local events in the Schuylkill Haven area until 2020.
Glen will always be remembered for his devotion to his wife and family, his kind heart, and his sense of humor. Born with a hearing impairment, he never allowed it to limit his achievements or his ability to connect with others. He excelled in school, business, and life, and his positive outlook was truly contagious.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary Kalyan Greenawald; his sister, Karen Greenawald Zmuida; his brother, Tim Greenawald; his niece, Lauren Greenawald Humphries; his nephews, Larry Greenawald, Derek Zmuida, and Daniel Zmuida; and three great-nieces and great- nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Robert Greenawald.
Glen was an active and devoted member of Holy Ghost Orthodox Church. His faith was an important part of his life, and he valued the sense of community, fellowship, and spiritual grounding the church provided. Through the years, he supported the church with quiet dedication and took great pride in being part of its parish family.
A remembrance service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, at Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, located at 70 Holy Ghost Way, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Visitation will take place at the church prior to the service, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the Holy Ghost Social Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glen’s memory to Holy Ghost Orthodox Church or Castaway Cats Community Care of Macungie, PA. https://www.castawaycatsde.com/donations
