Elizabeth U. Miles

Elizabeth (Uhlinger) Miles, 91, wife of the late Jerome F. "Jerry" Miles of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024.

Born on September 11, 1933 in Long Island, New York she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Eileen (Mahoney) Uhlinger.

In Betty’s early years she was a classically trained pianist and cellist, sang in choirs, choral groups, and also sang with the Boston Pops. She attended Regis College in Massachusetts where she met her husband, Jerry. They married on November 12,1955 and made Baltimore their home to start their family.  They moved to Phoenixville in 1965.

She worked as an Account Manager for ICR in Media, PA for over 20 years She was a devoted member of St. Ann Catholic Church and was active in the choir for many years, volunteered at St. Ann School, and the Women's Guild. Betty was an avid gardener and happiest when digging in the dirt to create her beautiful gardens. She belonged to the Powderhorn Knoll Garden Club for many years. She was a longtime volunteer at Phoenixville Hospital Bookworm and Thrift Shop. Betty loved history and volunteered at Valley Forge Park conducting tours for the Visitor Center. She was also a volunteer at Phoenixville Library and loved her daily walk at the YMCA.

Betty always cherished spending time with her brother and sisters on Long Island as well as the Miles and Fusting families in Baltimore. She was so happy spending time with her friends and neighbors playing bridge, attending parties at Phoenixville Country Club or having their famous volleyball picnics.  Her favorite times were spent relaxing on the beach, especially in Stone Harbor and Naples.

9. Miles, Megan Miles, Kelly Osuch, Ryan Gerace, Kyle Gerace, and Anna Gerace.

11. 7 Great-grandchildren, Hannah, Chloe, Henry, Teddy, Wesley, Ellie, and Faye.

13. Brother, Thomas Uhlinger and sister, Eileen Uhlinger.

15. She was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine Hamill.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in St. Ann Catholic Church, 500 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 11:00 am with Rev. Thomas Kletzel officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.

A visitation will be held in the Devlin - Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Monday from 9:00 to 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to St. Ann Catholic Church, 502 S. Main Street, Phoenixville,  PA 19460.
