Francis Edward Conway, “Ed”, age 82, of Phoenixville, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Born on July 25, 1943, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Ed was the beloved son of the late Frank "Al" and Margaret (Hojecki) Conway. He attended Phoenixville Area High School and completed many certifications in the technical and computer fields from Northern Chester County Technical School, Montgomery County Community College, Control Data Technical School, Penn State University and General Electric Technical School. 

Ed’s professional career was as a Quality Control Mechanical Inspector for the Budd Co., KDI Navcor Corp., Mohawk Data Science Corp., Kensey Nash Corp., Control Data Corp. and GE/Lockheed Martin Aerospace Corp. He was the recipient of numerous awards for Technical Excellence from both Control Data and GE Aerospace Technology. Ed was also a proud member of the following Associations: 

American Federation of Tool Makers and Machinists

 NASA Technical Association for Satellites and Spacecraft 

American Society of Quality Control

A man of many talents and passions, Ed was a dedicated musician and drummer, performing throughout his life with his bands Royal Lancers, Dell Echoe's, The Four Diamonds, Ed Conway Trio and "Mercy” Showband. His commitment to serving others was exemplified through over 30 years as Dive Captain and Rescue Diver for the Friendship Fire Company No. 2 Dive-Rescue Unit. He was also a member of Explorer Post 58 in Phoenixville.

Ed found joy in golfing, photography, and caring for animals, all of which enriched his life and those around him. He proudly displayed his 3 Hole In One trophies from Ingleside Golf course (Hole #6, 1993), Twin Ponds Golf course (Hole #9, 2011) and Blackwood Golf course (Hole #13, 2019)He is lovingly remembered by his four children, Kelly Conway, Dawn Christman, Karen Holahan, and Colleen Waltman; his sons-in-law, Phil Bernotas, Tim Holahan, and Michael Waltman; and his eight cherished grandchildren: Kyra Bernotas, Nina Davis, Lexi Christman, Tim Holahan, Alex Wildgust, Kiershtiana Daly, Cole Waltman, and Jake Waltman. He is also survived by his siblings Russell Conway, Carole McKelvey, and Linda Conway.

Ed was preceded in death by his grandson, Kasimir C. Bernotas.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held to honor his memory at the Friendship Fire Company No. 2, on July 18, 2026 at 1:00 PM.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Friendship Fire Company No. 2 Dive-Rescue Unit, 423 W. High Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460, or to any local cat shelter, reflecting Ed’s compassionate spirit.
