Donald "Doc" Batyko

August 24, 1946 — July 4, 2021

Donald C. "Doc" Batyko, 74, husband of Jayne (Gordon) Batyko of Royersford, PA, passed away on Sunday morning, July 4, 2021, in his home.

He was born on August 24, 1946, in Phoenixville to the late Michael J. and Helen (Philipanics) Batyko.  He grew up in Mont Clare where he attended St. Michael the Archangel grade school and graduated from Bishop Kenrick High School, Norristown, with the Class of 1964.

Doc served in the U.S. Army 173rd Airborne division during the Vietnam War where he was wounded in action, was awarded a Purple Heart and returned to the US becoming a member of the 82nd Airborne stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC.  He remained a true patriot throughout his life.

He was a longtime mason working with Batyko-Kronmuller Masonry and then Batyko Masonry.  When he retired, he delivered lunches for the Great Valley School District and also Domino Pizza in Royersford.

Doc was a lifelong devout member of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church in Mont Clare where he served as a trustee.  He was also a member and Fourth Degree Knight in the St. Nicholas of Myra Knights of Columbus Council, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and many other social clubs.

Doc's passions were riding motorcycles, his mountain home in Wellsboro, PA, and spending time with his family.   He remained dedicated to his family, his church, and his profession.

In addition to his wife Jayne, he is survived by his three children:  Pamela M. Batyko, Darren T. and wife Jill Batyko, and Jesse G. Batyko; three grandchildren:  Casey Michael and wife Ursula Batyko, Dillon Michael Batyko, and Mackenzie Paige Batyko; great grandson, Harlon Paul Batyko; and several cousins and friends.

Special thanks to Doc's family and friends for their support, especially Jeanne (Kane) & Vernon Readman, and Maureen and Thomas Kane.  He was preceded in death by his close cousin, Edward J. Kane.

Family and friends may call at the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA, on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and on Friday, July 9, 2021, from 8:30 to 9:30 am.  A Panachida Service will be held on Thursday at 5:45 pm.

A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Amelia and Landis Streets, Mont Clare, PA, on Friday, July 9, 2021, at 10:00 am.

Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery. Any motorcyclist friends who wish to join Doc on a final ride to his resting place may join the procession from church to the cemetery at the conclusion of Liturgy.
