Bernard J. Rowan

Bernard J. Rowan, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.

He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyne (Cutillo) Rowan. Bernie was born on Phoenixville’s northside.  He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Phoenixville Area High School.

Upon graduation, Bernie joined the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS Roanoke and the USS Macon during the Korean War. He was a sharp history buff, always ready to share a good story.

Bernie was one of the original 275 families that became part of the Parish of St. Basil the Great, which was established in 1965.  He was an avid football fan and enjoyed following the local high school and professional sports teams.

Bernie is survived by his stepdaughter, Dianne, and her husband, Arthur Sprague, and their family as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Bernard J. Rowan, Sr., and Mildred (Hoff) Rowan.  Bernie was pre-deceased by his son, Patrick James Rowan, and his brothers Joseph T. and James D.

The family would like to thank Holisticare Hospice; Senior Helpers of Pottstown; and his devoted neighbors:  Dave, Nora and Abby for the care and compassion shown to Bernie during his last days.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2330 Kimberton Rd., Kimberton, Pennsylvania, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28th.  Interment to follow at St. Ann Cemetery.
