Barry Wayne Griffith was Phoenixville through and through. Born in Phoenixville Hospital on September, 15, 1944, he attended Gay Street School and graduated from Phoenixville High School. He had such pride for the town in which he called home, attending Blobfest, Firebird and of course Dogwood every year for as long as anyone can remember. He attended a multitude of shows and movies at the Colonial, and walked his dog to visit all the local stores in town. The last couple weeks Barry had such pride and excitement about the Phoenix Wheel. It is no surprise that in his 81 years, he knew (or seemed like he knew) everyone

Barry had a passion for travel (his favorite places being the American Southwest) and he had an extensive and beautiful collection of Native American art and artifacts. Barry was also a model train enthusiast, who collected trains since childhood. He delighted in sharing that passion with his nieces and nephews and set up elaborate train scenarios every Christmas. He was an oil painter and an avid photographer with a keen interest in all visual arts.

Barry developed a deep love for the environment, nature and conservation when he was young which lasted his entire life. And, like all of the Griffiths, was a natural green thumb, helping in the family greenhouse and even having one of his own as an adult.

Barry worked most of his career at Control Data as a data analyst and in his later retired years, he worked at Wegmans in King of Prussia.

Barry was a rabid Flyers fan and a huge western movie buff. He was the keeper of the family history, knew all the stories, had all the photos and kept those stories alive. Recently, he was so proud to have donated family artifacts to the Phoenixville Historical Society. Barry passed peacefully, at the home he lived in for 81 years. Our sweet Uncle Barry will be deeply and sorely missed.

He was predeceased by his parents Loren and Edith (Dewees) Griffith, and siblings, Loren “Butch” Griffith, Virginia “Ginger” Lombardi, and Arthur Griffith. As Barry said, he was the “last man standing,” and we know that he is grateful to be going home to be reunited with them all.

Barry is survived by his sister in law, Mrs. Carol (Gardener) Griffith and nieces and nephews, Loren Griffith, SueEllen (Griffith) Malley, Stephen Griffith, Vickie (Lombardi) McGowan , Jennifer (Lombardi) Lahr, Kristopher Lombardi, Antonio Griffith and Maria Griffith and their spouses and children. He is also survived by his best buddy, Bentley. His protector, best friend and family.

Barry was always generous and if he had $5.00 in his pocket, he would give it to you. He donated to many worthy charities and ones in which he fully believed. In this spirit, if you would like to make a donation in Barry’s name, (in lieu of flowers) we know he would be delighted. Some of his favorites were The Sierra Club, the National Wildlife Federation, The Nature Conservancy, National Parks Conservation Association and the World Wildlife Federation. Or, more locally, the Brandywine SPCA, and the Phoenixville Historical Society.

He would also encourage you to touch grass, and visit our gorgeous National Parks. Spend time in nature and think of him.

A Graveside Service will be held in Philadelphia Memorial Park, 124 Phoenixville Pike, Frazer, PA 19355 on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 10:30 am.  Please wait at the cemetery entrance and we will proceed to the gravesite at 10:15 am.
