Alan Reed

Alan E. Reed, 81, a longtime resident of East Coventry Township, passed away August

8th, 2018 at home.

Alan was born on June 20th, 1937 in East Falls, PA. He graduated from La Salle

College High School and went on to receive a BS from University of Notre Dame and an

MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was an officer in

the Army Finance Corps. Alan was involved with The Boy Scouts as a scout and later

as an assistant Scoutmaster in Kimberton PA. He was CEO and President of Reed

Associates Inc., which he founded with David Reed and Robert Buek, from 1973 until

his retirement in 2015. He was an avid narrow gauge railroad modeler, specializing in

Colorado in the fall of 1937. Alan loved gardening, rowing, antique jazz, squash, golf

and especially traveling, having been to all seven continents and both poles.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents Walter C. Reed and Rebecca (McVeigh)

Reed and brothers Donald and David. Alan is survived by his wife of 50 years Susan

(Schatz) Reed, son Peter H. Reed, daughter Margaret Reed Brehman and her husband

Scott Brehman, daughter Katherine A. Reed and her husband David Borror,

grandchildren Shelby Brehman, Caroline Brehman, Elizabeth Brehman and Philip Reed,

and sister Barbara Weir and her husband Donald Weir.

A celebration of Alan’s life will be held in private at a future date. In lieu of flowers,
