Violet (Vi) Blanch Young, 88, of Phoenixville, PA, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at her residence in Spring Mills. She was born on May 20, 1930 to Richard and Effie (Lamey) Cox in Trainer, PA at Price's Historic Home.
Violet was an incredible woman and Mother who loved to spend time with her family. She would always open her home at Country Club Road for get-together's and Christmas Open House. For many years she worked at the Vocational Technical School in town, where her kind voice and listening ear shaped many young lives. She was the best Mom a kid would want to have. She was a 50-year member of the Phoenixville Baptist Church, now Grace Crossing Community. She was full of grace and poise, and had a kind word for everyone she met. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was active in her church. She embodied the fruits of the Spirit of love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. She was loved by many.
She is survived by her son Robert (Bob) Young of Phoenixville, PA, her daughter Diane Myers (Joe) of Newburg, PA, her grand-son Douglas Vernon of Shippensburg, PA, her brothers John (Jack) Cox (Mae), Donald (Cork) Cox (Linda), and sister Sharon (Cookie) Kochey (Ken) and many nieces and nephews and long-time caring friends. She was preceded in death by her former husband Robert (Bob) Wilson Young, and her long-term friend Lemuel Defibaugh (Def).
