Richard F. Stevens, 85, husband of the late Marie (Horvath) Stevens of Phoenixville, PA, died on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.
Born on November 26, 1932 in Phoenixville, PA, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Hovanec) Stevens.
Richard was co-founder and CEO of Security National Bank, he was also co-founder and CEO of New Century Bank in Phoenixville.
He received his business degree from Penn State University, there he played the alto saxophone in the Marching Blue Band. He later trained at the American Bank Institute and received a graduate degree from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He served as Past Director of Central Atlantic Advanced School of Banking.
Richard was a Captain in the United States Air Force, where he was a Jet Pilot.
His past civic activities include serving on the Board of Directors of the Red Cross, YMCA, Rotary, United Way, Chester County Tourist Bureau, Phoenixville Area Economic Development Corporation, Phoenixville Hospital Health Care Development Council, Family Services of Chester County and Pottstown Symphony. He has also served as President of the Chester County and Phoenixville Area Chambers of Commerce and Auditor for Charlestown Township, and the Phoenixville Downtown Revitalization Committee Chairman.
Richard was presented with the Citizen of the Year Award from the Phoenixville Area Chamber of Commerce and the B'nai B'rith Citizenship of the Year Award. He was a Director of the Pennsylvania Bankers - Mid Atlantic Advance School of Banking.
He also served on the following building funds: Phoenixville Area YMCA, Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville Library, Phoenixville Senior Activities Center, Pottstown Library and Pottstown YMCA.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Basil The Great Catholic Church, 2340 Kimberton Road, Phoenixville, PA on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
A viewing will be held in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and in church on Monday morning from 9:30 am to 10:45 am.
